Cookies, local storage and affiliate attribution on chicken-road-app.us.org, explained without the legal fog.
1 What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser so it can remember something between page views — that you dismissed a notice, or that your visit originally came from a particular referral link. Local storage works similarly but is not sent back to the server with every request.
2 Categories we use
| Category | Purpose | Typical lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Page delivery, security and remembering your cookie choices. The site cannot work correctly without them. | Session – 12 months |
| Preferences | Remembering interface choices, such as the sticky offer bar you closed or an expanded FAQ entry. | Session – 12 months |
| Analytics | Counting visits in aggregate and measuring which sections are read. Reports are statistical, never individual profiles. | Up to 26 months |
| Affiliate attribution | Recording that a click on an outgoing partner link came from here, so a referral can be credited. See our Affiliate Disclosure. | 30 – 90 days |
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles and we do not sell cookie data.
3 Cookies and outbound clicks
We do not tag readers before they click. Attribution happens on the operator's side after you arrive there, using their own cookie, which is why declining third-party cookies in your browser removes it entirely without breaking anything on this page.
4 How to control cookies
You can accept, refuse or delete cookies at any time. Blocking the strictly necessary category may break parts of the site; blocking analytics or affiliate cookies will not affect the content you can read.
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies.
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
- Android / iOS browsers: browser settings → privacy → clear browsing data.
Private or incognito windows discard cookies when closed, which is a quick way to browse without persistent identifiers.
5 How long each cookie lasts
Session cookies vanish when the tab closes. The preference entry that records your cookie answer persists until you clear site data. Aggregate analytics identifiers, where you have accepted them, expire within months rather than years. No identifier we set is designed to outlive its purpose.
We keep this page short on purpose: policies nobody reads protect nobody.
